At Long Last... Landscape Design Is Here!

We’ve been longing for a solution like this for a while now - something between DIY and the luxurious full scale landscape design & install services that are out there. We wanted to put together a solution that offers glorious, upscale designs created with your property in mind, but that gives you the flexibility of sourcing and installing your own plants and garden elements. In essence, this company Merritt Garden Consult + Design is what we’ve been looking for ourselves.

As folks who love to DIY just about everything we can, we’ve also felt the struggle of not being an expert in whatever project we take on. We have often found ourselves searching for all the expert tips that we can possibly source on social media and YouTube. But nothing comes close to having a professional with over a decades worth of experience on your side - someone who has sold and installed bespoke landscape designs for clients that range from celebrity football coaches to historic farm property owners to gated golf community retirees along the East Coast.

We wanted the assurance knowing that the expert on our side is confident in exactly what they’re doing, that they know all about the native plants that already thrive in our area... the different variegations of those plants, various types of soil we might see or have in our zone, and what types of plants might benefit from being in close proximity to eachother.

Having somebody take your house survey and design by hand a garden or a landscape that completely nails the overall aesthetic of your property is just a dream come true, especially if you don’t have to shell out $60,000-$70,000 for professional crews to come in and install everything themselves. In other words, my dollar isn’t going toward paying the salaries of 5 to 10 people to do a job that I can easily do myself with my husband. 

It’s really the conceptualization of the whole project and precise planning, sourcing products and having a designer create this bespoke landscape that flows with our individual property, that is just unmatched and before now wasn’t even available.

If I were to tell you that our garden consultant included every single aspect of what we wanted in our garden and superseded our expectations, I’m sure you’d be a little skeptical at first. But the great thing about Merritt is that they connect you with a garden consultant who really cares about delivering the highest quality.

I love that I was able to chat with our garden consultant personally and share our family’s goals with her. I got to tell her that we have three children who would love to be honeybee keepers someday. We’ve always planned on having our own backyard beehive, and I’ve never really known where to start on my own with creating the perfect environment for the bees. After sharing a little bit about our personal goals and family life with our garden consultant, she was able to design a gardenscape that was interactive and engaging for our kids, as she made sure to include some play elements. And it was chalk full of bee-friendly flowers that would provide an idyllic haven for our colony to thrive.

I have full confidence, knowing that our garden plan will not be money wasted, and our endeavor will be a successful and overall fun experience because of the personal design that our consultant created for us. We now have a professional looking plan that I can now use going forward, and I can save so much unnecessary spending installing crews that would otherwise make this project out of budget. Honestly I feel like we can just put this whole thing together ourselves in a breeze.
